Remove the doors from the frame (leave the hinges on). Remove door furniture if possible such as door handles, finger plates and coat hooks.

It is advisable to mark the doors if you are having more than one door done.

Use a phillips screwdriver & hammer to tap a mark to the underneath of the door.

Doors with glass panels can be stripped but there is a very slight chance of the glass cracking during the process.

We do not guarantee the glass from cracking

You should be able to hang your doors straight away, it is the best place for them. Leave to dry fully for 5-7 days depending on heating so that they are completely dry before sanding.

Water based products, acrylic and polyurethane products cannot be stripped through the normal caustic dipping process, but we offer hand strip service.

Oak and mahogany do not strip well, in fact we highly recommend you not to use this method.

We do however run a hand- stripping service and although this is a more expensive option (it uses more costly chemicals and is carried out by hand) it produces brilliant results with hardwoods and leaves you to do very little further preparation as well as maintaining the value. Another benefit worth considering is that this method will lighten oak etc., making its appearance fit in well with modern decor.
